I use a bucket of warm/hot water and scouring pad or SOS pad.

    Do they no longer sharpen?

Comet, Bon Ami or Barkeepers Friend powder.

Comet, a green scrub pad and some running water. All ya need. You can even sub dish soap for the comet if need be.
  5. If they were used to sharpen metal(I would imagine they were). Then it's just fine metal shavings, warm water with some Dawn should do the trick just fine.

That's how I get mine clean.

I've used Comet and a green Scotch-Brite pad but I have also used these Rust Erasers for a quick clean

Mine never get completely white, either. Still some residual discoloration that doesn't affect the sharp's ability to cut.

Try heating it up in some very hot water, then clean the usual way using a glove if you need one.

I find that Bar Keeper's Friend does a better job of getting ceramic stones back to their original color than other powdered cleansers. BKF and a green 3M scouring pad get mine back to looking new in minutes.

i couldnt find any similar products around the house and i really needed ceramic's cleaned, because i was asked to sharpen a couple knife for my brother after thankgiving dinner.. so i used a drop of 'goof off' followed by dishing washing liquid and a green pad
    worked great..

I'm not sure if it will do any good, but in another thread sometime, someone suggested using a pencil eraser on them.

I was about to start a new thread on this but I'll revive the old instead.

I just happened to try some Autosol metal polish on my sharpmaker sticks and they came out looking like new.
Very easy and not really any mess.
I normally use this stuff to remove/prohibit rust on my tools but I had a fine scratch on a blade I thought the polish might help with. It didnt, but when I used the same rag to wipe down the ceramic stick it cleaned it up surprisingly well.

Comet and a copper scouring pad is what I have used with good results.

I have used a sink of hot water with Palmolive dish wash liquid.

Then I use a 3m Scotch Brite Heavy Duty Scourer with Jiff cleanser on it.
